John’s 20 years at Bloomberg propelled him to the epicentre of conference moderating, where he has chaired a multitude of plenary panels at some of the world’s most influential conferences. These include the renowned World Economic Forum in Davos, politically-charged debates held by the European Union and U.K governments; and, between 1999-2010, he led the coverage for the 3GSM, Cable Congress and CeBit technology conferences in Cannes, Barcelona, Brussels, Berlin, Lucerne and Hanover.
John’s relocation to Asia in 2010 has seen him moderate keynote panels for the Barclays Global Conference, BAFTA, the AVCJ Investor Event Series, CASBAA, The Asia-Pacific Conference (APK) of German Business, ASIFMA and The American Chamber of Commerce’s China Conference.

John’s interviewing technique comes to the fore with the 45-minute “fireside” chat format. Before a private audience, he has interviewed influential newsmakers including 4-star General David Petraeus, the former Director of the CIA and U.S. Commander in Afghanistan and Iraq; Former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Jamie Rubin; Oaktree Co-Founder and Chairman Howard Marks; Providence Equity Capital CEO Jonathan Nelson and, for BAFTA, the award-winning British filmmaker Duncan Kenworthy.
He has also chaired numerous environment-focused, arts and charity events. These include The Prince’s Trust, GGEF Sustainability Conference; Habitat for Humanity; Art Basel; the launch event for Just Challenge/Laureus Sport; in 2017, John emceed the biennial Kids4Kids Gala Dinner, which raised HK$4.6 million.
In sport, John hosted the IMG/HSBC Golf Business Forum in Shanghai, where his on-stage interviews included Ping Chairman John Solheim, 2x U.S. Masters Champion Bubba Watson and Chinese billionaire entrepreneurs Professor Du Sha and Dr. Chanchai Ruayrungruang.
